Thanksgiving OOTD!

Sweater: Ralph Lauren
Jeans: Old Navy
Scarf: Lilly Pulitzer
Boots: Steve Madden (can't really see them)
Watch: Michael Kors
I wore this outfit for Thanksgiving, usually our dinner is pretty casual. I had a really nice outfit that included a skirt from Banana Republic that I haven't worn yet but I decided to save that for another time! My roommate actually wore it recently for a birthday dinner recently!

Roomie wearing the skirt!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! What did you wear for your Thanksgiving dinner?

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving and has so much to be grateful for! Eat some delicious food and be with friends and family!

Is anyone braving the crowds tomorrow to go black friday shopping?! I've never been a huge black friday shopper, I hate being in crowded areas and my mom hates going so I never got into it. I also like to shop by myself, kind of weird, but I like to go to every store and look at everything before buying anything. I'm always so afraid I'm going to buy something and then like something better somewhere else! Anywhere in particular that you have found good deals before?! I would love some suggestions of places to go!!

OOTD!!

Yesterday I went to lunch with a friend/coworker to catch up! Usually we have lunch at the union in school in between classes on tuesdays but since I was home for break we decided to do lunch at home! We always have a week worth of catching up to do so we tend to have really long lunches!!

I was really excited because I was finally able to wear this Lilly Pulitzer Murfee scarf that I have had for a while! I actually got this at the Lilly Warehouse sale a few months back! I bought my mom a different Murfee scarf from Lilly for her birthday and she didn't like it as much as this one so we switched. Since I'm home though I was able to borrow it ;)

I also was able to wear my cowboy boots that I just recently bought! I am really particular about certain things and cowboy boots are one of them. It has taken me about a year to find a pair that I really like!! These are Madden Girl and not only were they a good price but they are SO comfortable. I love that they go with everything and can be dressed up or down!

Do you own any Murfee scarves from Lilly?! Do you like cowboy boots?!

Home sweet home!!

I apologize for my lack of blogging yesterday! I pulled my first all nighter on sunday evening so I spent the day catching up on some much needed sleep. I am now home for the thanksgiving break, and so grateful to be!
How cute is this girl laying next to me while I write this!!?
This weekend was beyond hectic for me filled with two birthdays, mama coming home from Paris, and seeing old friends! As crazy as it was I loved every second of it, I got to see so many people who I normally don't get to see! On Friday as you know I went to College Park to visit high school friends, which was a ton of fun! On Saturday I went to dinner with my sister and brother-in-law and watched Horrible Bosses (I swear it was the funniest movie ever...if you haven't seen it yet, do it!) until it was time to pick up my mama from the airport at midnight! So happy she is home! On Sunday it was both my roommates birthday and my brother-in-laws birthday! I surprised Danielle by decorating her room before leaving to my parents house to have our surprise birthday dinner for Mike (his family surprised him by coming down from PA!!!). Then I went back to school for a nice little all nighter Sunday night...let me just say I was not feelin' so hot on Monday morning!

My family has been making pumpkin, pecan, and apple pie for years now so we are trying to come up with a new dessert to make for turkey day, any suggestions?! I am a huge fan of chocolate (hint hint)

Happy Birthday to YOUUUU!

My roommate Danielle turns the big 19 today!!!!!! I have known her forever because we grew up playing lacrosse together and have lived in the same area...and now we live together at school!

Before a Towson football game!

Happy birthday Danielle!!! Love you and can't wait to celebrate!!!

It is also my brother-in-law Mike's birthday!!!!!!!!! He's turning 30!! yayayyayay!! We will be celebrating this evening at my parents house!!

At my graduation!!

Best Friend!!

Today could quite possibly be the most fun day I've had in a while!! Not only is it friday (which obviously automatically makes the day 10x better) but my BEST friend Mandy comes home for fall break today!!

At the beach like two years ago!
We've been friends since 7th grade...which is like 8 years...which is actually crazy to me! She goes to James Madison while I go to Towson, so unfortunately we don't see each other very often during the school year. Tonight we are headed up to College Park to stay with our friend Danielle at her apartment. We are also going to visit our 4 best guy friends from high school who also go to UMD (they are all best friends and live together too...pretty convenient). It should be so much fun to reunite with everyone again since the summer!

This is from the last time she came home to visit!
From over the summer!
High school?!

Hope you all have a wonderful Friday!! What are you up to this weekend?!

Bows on Bows on Bows!

I keep seeing the most gorgeous bows pop up on my tumblr dashboard! I was in desperate need of a game day bow for my Towson Tigers! The University stores sells them for about $20...but for a bow, that was way too expensive!

How cute is this bow I found on tumblr!?
I decided it was time to make my own! I set out to Joanne Fabrics and got ribbon and barrette clips. I also borrowed my brothers hot glue gun to save some money. It was super easy to make the bow and you can create so many different styles!

I obviously chose yellow and black polka dot ribbon. You tie the ribbon into a bow and just hot glue it right on the barrette! It may take a few tries to get it perfect but once you get the hang of it, it's really easy!! This craft is perfect for college students on a budget. The total cost brought me under $20 and I have plenty of extra barrette clips that I can now make tons of different bows for different occassions!

How perfect do they match!?
Here's one actually in my hair!
Have you ever tried making hair bows?! Any suggestions on making different bows?!

Preppy Puppies!

Alright so what is better than Lilly Pulitzer and your dog?! A Lilly Pulitzer collar made just for your pup!!
This is one of the collars made from Lilly Pulitzer fabric!
My sister recently started a line of designer dog collars and leashes!! It's called Preppy Puppies and I swear they are the CUTEST collars I have ever seen! Each collar is handmade and the highest quality (my dog Riley has had his collar for at least a year now and it still looks brand new!!).

Hellooo! If you like to golf here is the perfect collar for you!
I may be a little bias since she is my sister and all but seriously, they are the cutest collars ever! You cannot find this kind of thing at Petco! What's even better is say you really like the Ravens (i mean come on, who doesn't?!) and want your dog to sport a Ravens collar. Just email mypreppypuppies@gmail.com and she will work with you to find a perfect pattern and create a custom collar just for you...it's that simple!

I helped her pick out this fabric!
Go to her website and check out the collars! Even if you don't have a dog, these collars make the perfect gift for the dog lover!! PS...free shipping until thanksgiving...so hurry, hurry, hurry!!!

Do you love the collars?! Which one is your favorite??! (mines the first one pictured...i love Lilly Pulitzer)

Tea Time!

Anyone that knows me knows that I am obsessed with tea! I will drink it AT LEAST once a day, usually at night. I'm usually more into the chamomile types but I also love a good black tea! I was at Safeway the other day and noticed the Earl Grey Tea for Keurig was on sale for about $8, so I went ahead and bought a pack of 12. I definitely was not expecting it to even be half as good as it was!
My mom has always been a fan of Earl Grey, since that's what her and her sisters have always drank, but I have always leaned more towards chamomiles! Ever since I tried this though, I am officially a fan...it might even be replacing coffee for me in the mornings (shocker...i know!!).

I saw this online and thought it would be nice to share with you all since it is an even better deal than what I got! If you like Early Grey, Twinings sells Early Grey K-Cups in packs of 25 for only $9.99. That is literally a STEAL! I will definitely be buying them there from now on!!

Are you as big of a tea fan as I am?! Have you ever tried Earl Grey for Keurig?
xoxo

OOTD!

Just wanted to show you what I wore to classes today....just notice the footwear!

Yep, thats right....sandals!!! I cannot even believe its the middle of november and I'm wearing my rainbows! It is literally GORGEOUS outside right now...just soaking it all in!

Jeans: Old Navy (I swear by them...)
Watch: Michael Kors
Shoes: Rainbows

Skin Care

Okay so I need some help! Recently my skin has been breaking out like crazy. I really have never had this bad of skin so I have no idea what to do!! My dermatologist isn't available for another 3 months (crazy, i know BUT she is GREAT!) so in the mean time I need your help!

I don't wear a ton of makeup..usually just mineral coverup (if needed) and bronzer with an SPF. I absolutely hate that I've had to wear more makeup since my skin has gotten bad! I use a generic face wash and I'm usually pretty good about washing my face in the morning and at night. If need be, I will put a dab of the Proactiv Refining Mask on before bed which seems to help with the size of a pimple.

My mom is not a fan of Proactiv so to get the entire kit is out of the question! I really like natural remedies but I am all for trying new products!!

Do you have any suggestions on how to clear up my skin?! Any products that you swear by?!

Viva La Barstool!

Last night I attended the Barstool Blackout Tour at the Recher in Towson, MD with two of my good friends, Danielle and Danielle! It is basically a blacklight party with loud music, cut off t-shirts and LOTS and lots of dancing. Barstool goes all over the country to different schools and cities doing this Blackout Tour (Clemson, Michigan, and Maryland are just some of the schools they've come to!). Not something I would normally be in attendance of, because that is definitely not my scene, but tickets were only about $20 so I said why not! Talking with people in my classes, so many people were looking for tickets, even willing to spend over $50 to get one!
Danielle, me, and Danielle!! (we made shirts for the event)
The Recher is walking distance from our townhouse at school, so we set out on our way at around 10pm last night! We got there and were surprised by the small amount of people that were there (apparently, it was supposed to be sold out?!?) but about 30 minutes later the place was jammed packed!! We saw a ton of people we knew which was really fun!
The girls and I at the Recher!
I was not a fan of being sweaty, pushed around, people stepping on my poor little toes, ears ringing and people falling on me which is probably why I don't attend these things in the first place! I decided to leave around midnight because I still had class in the morning and needed to get some sleep! I also had one of my parents dogs, Riley, staying at my house that evening so I wanted to be able to get back to him!! I had a lot of fun with my friends and just being able to dance after these past few crazy weeks!
Riley and I being silly!!
Overall, I am glad I went and had a good time but I'm not so sure anyone that didn't get a ticket missed out!

Have you guys ever heard of this Blackout Tour? Have you ever been to something like this? Did you have fun?

Stress. Stress. Stress.

I'm sure any college student or graduate could agree with me when I say by the end of the semester you are in much need of the upcoming break to relax. Seeing as I have about 5 weeks left of my semester, I am feelin' the stress! Midterms have come and gone, and it is now time to start focusing on final papers and end of the semester exams.

I am not the type of person that handles stress well....at all. My stress tends to just snowball from being stressed about all the things I need to get done to being stressed about being stressed. Tell me somebody knows what I mean?! All this stress is NOT healthy whatsoever and tends to have negative effects on the body (lack of energy, binge eating...you name it). While theres nothing you can really do about being stressed (in life you are bound to get stressed) there are some things you can help combat and manage your stress.

My first advice is when you are feeling too stressed and are clearly not accomplishing anything, is to make yourself a cup of tea and go to bed. I always thought my mom was crazy when she told me this because there was no way I could just go to bed...I had work to get done (helllllooo mom, thats why I'm stressed in the first place!!). BUT I have found that this is actually a really good technique. If you need to  wake up a little earlier to get the rest of your work done so be it but you are clearly not going to get quality work done if you are frustrated with being stressed. Being able to sleep on it allows you to calm down and think with a fresh mind. As for tea, my favorite is Sleepytime. For this type of situation I suggest Sleepytime Wellness Tea. It tastes delicious but it also really helps put you to sleep and stay asleep.

Another huge way to manage your stress is to lessen it in the first place by staying organized. If you are on top of the things you need to get done on a daily basis, then you are less likely to be overwhelmed by everything you have to do. This is especially helpful when you are in school, but it can also help if you are balancing your hectic schedule between work, picking up the kids, making dinner, feeding the dog and taking the kids to their activities. I know personally that I feel more at ease when I can see everything I need to do written down so that I can plan for the day. Having an agenda and making lists is one of the easiest ways to do this. It helps to also be able to cross off what you have completed.

Here's my agenda from 2 weeks ago!
I was a busy girl on Halloween!!

Do you have any tips on managing stress? I would love to hear them!

Periwinkle

Okay so lets be honest, I have NEVER been a fan of purple. The only purple I will ever wear is when I'm cheerin' on my Ravens! However, this season I have seen the color periwinkle everywhere. I decided I would try out this new trend and ever since have fallen in love!

It started this summer when I saw the CUTEST shirt online from Crewcuts! Even though it was long sleeves and I knew I wouldn't be able to wear it until the fall I decided to buy it anyways. Well now that the weather has cooled down I have finally had the chance to wear the shirt!

Since I fell in love with the color I decided I would move on to wearing the color on my nails. I picked up this Essie nail polish from Walmart and have since worn it twice on my nails and always get the nicest compliments!

Here are some other pieces I just love in this color!

How much do you love this color?! Have you guys jumped on the bandwagon with this color trend? Are there any other colors you suggest I try this season?

Banana Muffins!

For some reason my banana's have been going bad quite fast lately. No worries though because when banana's become brown they are PERFECT for making banana muffins!! I have always been fond of anything banana, so when my dad introduced me to banana bread I was in heaven (I prefer the muffins though because they are better on the go).

I found a great recipe online (found here) and decided to make them myself! They turned out delicious (I may or may not have eaten 3 when they came out of the oven) and I will definitely be using this recipe in the future.

Ingredients:
3 or 4 Bananas (preferably one's that have browned...it makes them sweet)

1 Cup of Sugar
1 1/2 Cups of Flour

1 Teaspoon of Vanilla

1 Teaspoon of Baking Soda
1 Egg
Dash of Salt
1/3 Cup of Melted Butter

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Mash the banana's (I used my hands for this, my dad prefers a fork) in a large bowl.
3. Add the melted butter to the mashed up banana's and mix.

4. Add in the sugar, egg, and vanilla into the mixture and then mix it well.
5. Then add the baking soda and salt and mix.
6. Slowly add the flour and mix well!

The batter was SO good!!
7. This is the part that becomes fun and unique. Depending on what you like you can add chocolate, nuts, or my personal favorite...cinnamon!

8. If you would prefer making a loaf of bread you would now pour the batter into a greased 4x8 pan. I like making muffins so I used muffin pans with liners and sprayed them. (this recipe made me about 15 muffins)
9. Place the pan into the oven and cook for about 20 minutes. Mine cooked for a little less so just be super careful and watchful of them.
9. Once the timer has gone off take the muffins out of the pan to cool. I don't like to keep them in the pan to cool because that tends to burn the bottoms!
10. You are now ready to eat your delicious muffins!

These were seriously some of the best muffins I have ever had! I loved how easy and tasty this recipe was!

Have you ever made banana muffins before? What recipe do you use to make them? I would love to try new recipes :)
