Empire State of Mind

So as you know I made my way to New York yesterday with my roommate Danielle! We left at 1am and the bus was totally full. A gentleman moved his seat to allow Danielle and I to sit together which was so sweet!! I had a pretty difficult time sleeping on the bus so when we arrived in the city at 5am we both were needing some coffee. Thank goodness for Starbucks!

It was still dark when we got there!
We had decided we were going to try and go to the Live with Kelly show, seeing as she is one of our favorites, so thats where we headed first. We ended up being first in the standing line and made our cold little selves into the studio! It was so much fun being there and only made us love Kelly Ripa even more!!

Danielle and I!

We then walked all the way over to Madison ave. to visit the Lilly Pulitzer store!! This store was beautiful and the service was fantastic! I had been wearing a Lilly scarf and a pair of Lilly croakies so the woman working there thought Danielle and I were from corporate. We told her we only wish :)! Definitely recommend making a visit there!

So pretty!
Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful.
Adored this dress!
We ate and shopped for a little while longer until we both hit a wall! We were so tired from not getting any sleep so we snuck onto an earlier bus and luckily got home much earlier!

Eloise!
Giant cupcake!!
I love taking pictures with Instagram!
I had a lot of fun in New York! What do you normally do when you visit NYC?!

Update!

Sorry for my lack of blogging yesterday, it was just one of those Mondays. I seriously could not do anything right. I went to work for a few hours then came straight home to take a nap. I felt a little more refreshed and went to dinner and froyo with an old friend. It was great to catchup and we had some great conversation!
Took this on the way to work using Instagram!
Today I've spent the entire day at my townhouse at school. School starts back up next week so I wanted to come get things organized and cleaned up before moving back in. I decided to pack up most of my clothes and bring them over so I wouldn't have to do it Sunday night. I feel way more prepared for school now that this daunting task has been completed!

It was gorgeous here today!
Clean Clean Clean!!
Tonight I will be spending the night here with my roommate Danielle because we will be waking up at 1am to get our butts to New York for the day!

Any places I should check out while in NYC?!

Friday Favs!!

This Friday some of my favorite things are...

1. Quick and easy hairstyles! On Thursday I picked my parents up from the airport and needed to quickly pull something together. I put my hair in a pony tail then quickly braided it! I have seen Kourtney Kardashian do her hair like that occasionally and loved how it looked on her. Mine obviously didn't look as good as hers!! Do you have any quick hairstyles I could do for my long hair?!

2. My new Kate Spade Iphone case! I got a clear case for christmas that I LOVE but I also wanted a fun one too! I love Lilly Pulitzer phone cases but when I saw the Kate spade one I fell in love. On the inside it says "Live Colorfully".

3. Purple Friday's! This is a tradition in Baltimore where everyone gets decked out in their Raven's gear on Friday before a game weekend! It's a great way to start the weekend and share our pride. The players that live in the area love to see it too. This will be the first time my boss is allowing us to wear our jerseys to work and I'm so so so excited!!

What are your favorites this Friday?!

Sweet Eats!

Okay so Valentine's Day is creeping upon us, whether we like it or not, so why not celebrate?! And what better way to celebrate than to make yummy treats (benefit of being single: more for me!!)?! Yesterday I made a quick and easy treat out of pretzels, hershey kisses, and m&m's!

My grocery store luckily had the Valentine's Day section already out so I snagged a bag of Valentine's m&ms. Other than that all I had to buy was Hershey Hugs since I like white chocolate better (two bags if you are like me and eat every other one while making these) and a bag of regular pretzels.

1. First I set the oven to 170 degrees F!

2. Lay down tinfoil on a cookie sheet. Carefully place pretzels down one by one.

3. Unwrap the Hershey Kisses (or hugs, whichever you prefer). Place one unwrapped Hershey Kiss on each pretzel.

4. Place the tray in the oven for a couple of minutes. It literally only takes a few minutes (mine took about 3 1/2 minutes) so watch them carefully.

5. Once they are slightly melted take them out of the oven and place one m&m on top of each Kiss.

6. Place them in the fridge to cool for about 10 minutes and you are done!!

So cute and EASY right?! You can place them in little baggies and tie a pink ribbon around them and give them as Valentines Day gifts! Have you ever made these before?!

What I'm lovin'!!

Today is Wednesday so it is time for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

1. Evolution Orange Juice. It is SO delicious and completely natural. As I said in a previous post I am really trying harder to read labels of what I'm consuming. The only ingredient in this is orange juice, no added sugars, and no preservatives. It is simply delicious!!

2. The fact that in 3 short days I will be taking a road trip with one of my best guy friends to visit my best friend at JMU!!!

Not a good picture, but this is all three of us!
3. Burt's Bees deep cleansing cream! I love love love this stuff. Not only is it all natural BUT it works great and smells good as well! My mom used it for a while but found something she liked better so she gave me the rest of hers and since then I've been hooked. I like that it is all natural but still a good price for a college student!!

4. Mini Diva Bangle from Lilly Pulitzer! This will be a perfect addition to my stack and will be one of my next purchases!!

What are you loving this Wednesday?!?!

Rainy Day Blues

I went to sleep last night to the sound of rain and woke up to rain again this morning. This means this girl will not be getting out of bed much today! I luckily have no work today so I can afford to be lazy allll day!

So dreary looking!
Yesterday I went to work for a few hours only to come home exhausted. I found my favorite spot on the couch and that's where I parked myself for the rest of the night! I took a nap to the movie Switching Goals...you know the one with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

I then moved on to watch Gossip Girl! Was anyone else just as confused as I was?! My best friend luckily was able to cue me in! Over break I was able to watch all the seasons of GG on Netflix and I really got into it. After GG, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills came on!

It was definitely a TV night last night! Does anyone else watch Gossip Girl or RHOBH?!

Tiffany Blue and an Orange Hue!

So as you all probably know, the Ravens had a rough win yesterday but the boys did pull through! We will now be moving on to play the Patriots next weekend, which is definitely going to be a tough one!

I've spent too much a lot time on the computer lately whether it be reading blogs, tumblr, pinterest, or twitter! I found this on pinterest and absolutely fell in loveee
Via Pinterest

I've always really liked the colors tiffany blue and orange but would have never thought of putting them together! Feminine yet masculine enough for a wedding even! Perfection.

Darling Invitations!

Table Numbers

How cute would these be as favors?!
Gifts for bridesmaids and flower girl?!
(you could even change out the white ribbon for orange ribbon!)

Love everything about this color scheme!! Do you love these colors for a wedding as much as I do?! I hope my future husband will be okay with me picking out the colors!

Ball So Hard!!!

Sorry it's going to be a short post today!! LETS GO RAVENSSSSS! (if you haven't figured out I'm from Maryland yet well here you are!!)

I will be sitting in my nice warm living room (while most of my friends are tailgating and going to the game) watching the Baltimore Ravens take on the Houston Texans! I am beyond excited for this game and have waited literally two weeks (we got a first round bye...along with home field advantage...yeah, no big deal...). Road to the superbowl here we goooooo!

All Natural!

I don't really do New Years resolutions just because I never stick with them but one thing I have been doing a lot more of is going more natural and healthy!

I started with stopping all of my medicines that I normally took, minus vitamins. I am easily stressed out and have these "attacks" of anxiety so I have been on and off anxiety medicine for about two years. I actually don't see that much of a difference when I am on it anyways but I definitely think there are different ways of channeling my anxiety. Yoga, baths, running, and chamomile tea are all things I have learned that help me when I'm stressed/anxious.

This is a tricky one and I'm still really really working on it but cutting dairy out of my diet. I absolutely LOVE cheese and milk but our bodies weren't made to digest lactose, therefore we shouldn't be consuming it (in my opinion, obviously). The cheese and cream (for my coffee) I have yet to eliminate from my diet but milk is a goner. I've tried soy milk in the past and despised it but I recently stumbled upon almond milk and fell in loooveeee. I have been putting it into my Kashi cereal and it is divine!!! (I use plain but they also sell it in sugar free, and vanilla.)

One thing in the past that I hadn't done was read ingredient labels. I've begun to read all the labels of my food to make sure I know what I am putting in my body. It is crazy to see how much added sugar is in things! (side-note about sugars: I have found the less sugar you eat, the less you want sugary foods. Once you cut most sugars out of your diet you won't even like sugary food!) You are what you eat!

I have also wanted to cut coffee out of diet. This is crazy I know, but there are many other foods that can give you the same effect as coffee. To start, as SOON as you wake up you should drink as much water as you possibly can. For me it took a while of working up to, but I drink an entire camelback water bottle that I fill up before I go to bed and place on my night stand. I then wait an hour (in the mean time I get dressed/ready for whatever I am doing that day) to eat. I swear by doing this water trick, it really really wakes you up and it is supposed to flush out the toxins that have built up in your body over night. I have found eating an orange every morning has given me a boost of energy along with my Kashi cereal with almond milk and chamomile tea. Chamomile tea is usually a bed time drink but I like to drink it at night and in the morning as well. It puts me to sleep at night but then relaxes me for the day.

Typical Breakfast!

I have also had back problems for years now and whenever the pain was unbearable I would take medicine. Well since i cut all medicine out I have begun to go to a chiropractor instead! It is a really interesting and different approach but I LOVE it!!

This "holistic" lifestyle is really new and different for me so I'm just trying to take it slowly but so far I feel a lot healthier than I ever have!

Is anyone else going healthier this new year?! Or am I just crazy?

Friday Favorites!

Here are some of the things I'm loving this Friday!

1. The Baltimore Ravens!!! Can't wait to watch them proceed to the next round of the playoffs on Sunday!

2. My North Face Parka, seriously one of my best purchases yet. Although it hasn't gotten too cold in Baltimore yet it was really windy today and it definitely saved me on my adventure to the mall!

3. Pinterest! I know most people have probably already gotten into it but for me this is something new and exciting!

How fun is this?!
4. Moroccan Argan Oil! Helllooo hair miracle, I may do a more in depth post about this sometime in the future but I SWEAR by it!

5. Gel nail polish! A manicure lasting about 2 weeks is virtually unheard right?! WRONG...I promise these last for a good two weeks, and possibly longer if you are gentler than I am.

What are you loving this Friday!?

The Guardian

Over break one of my goals was to read two books for fun. I absolutely love to read, and once I start I don't put the book down.  While I am home for the month my mom let me borrow her Kindle to download some books. I had trouble downloading them so I was searching to see what books she had already downloaded. I came across The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks and read the little bio about it. I thought why not, it would obviously be an easy read and I love anything written by Sparks!

I started reading and by the first chapter I was already crying (who would have guessed???). I completely finished the book in a matter of four days. It was about a woman who lost her husband and was dating other people only to find out one of the men she dated was not who she thought he was, he was actually a killer. The book was obviously a love story but it also had elements of mystery and suspense to it. Overall I thought it was a good book, definitely not what I was expecting out of a Nicholas Sparks book, but good.

I am now on the hunt for another book to read...any suggestions?!

Times are changing!

I hope everyone had a blast ringing in the new year! It's crazy to think 2012 is upon us; I really can't believe how quickly 2011 went by. I'm not one to make resolutions because I don't tend to stick with them but instead I like to look back and reflect on my past year. (Do any of y'all do this?!)

From New Years!

I have been such a little busy bee these past few weeks, so I apologize for my lack of blogging! After finals were over with I worked my little heart out right before the holidays...and then again right after. Now that everything is winding down it's safe to say I will be back to blogging!

Surprisingly enough, my usually uneventful life has become much more exciting lately...let me just give you an update!
1. My parents will be moving this year and decided to start a project of their own...building/and or completely redoing a new home. This is really exciting for all of us, besides the fact we will be living in a rental home until it is completed!
2. I got some GREAT news on Christmas that I will be sharing at a later date (stay tuned).
3. I am no longer team Blackberry...yup I am now living in the first world, hellloooo Iphone! (anyone know of some cute cases?!)
4. I have some great things lined up this semester!
5. I have been running, miraculously, and signed up for a 5k with my mom a sister!!!!!!!

Yesterday, I went to the outlets with my mom and sister and then attended a holiday party for my work, which I dragged my best friend to (she was my stand in boyfriend for the night...sorry)! It was good seeing people I work with outside of work..and the food wasn't bad either! I participated in Secret Santa and got a Lilly Travel Coffee Cup!! I also won the game "name that baby" and received a gift card (I was really excited because I never win ANYTHING). After that we went to a good friends house to play monopoly. Personally, I hate monopoly and this game didn't end until about 2:30 in the morning. By the time it was over all I wanted to do was crawl into bed.

Hope everyone had a great christmas and new years!! What have y'all been doing?!?!...I would love updates!!
